Thrifty Finds

New York is expensive! My dear Southerners, brace yourself for the overpriced drinks, expensive restaurants and most of all exorbitant rent. But, hey, it’s just one of the things you’ll have to sacrifice for living in the coolest city in the world.

Since the majority of my hard-earned salary goes to rent, that leaves little to no cash for other things, especially decorating. In my other life I would have been an interior designer but that’s another story, another time.

One of the best places to find hidden treasures for less in New York is Housing Works Thrift Shop and they have them all over the city. This place isn’t your mom and dad’s consignment shop – oh no, it’s so much more. They sell “high-end vintage treasures to bargain hunters and fashionistas alike.” And the best part of all is their proceeds go to a good cause. Really, this place is awesome and I guarantee you’ll fall in love with it too. I have found some great gems here including a lamp, table, four chairs, pictures, etc. (Stay tuned for a post on how I gave these chairs a facelift).

Check out their site to see which location is nearest to you:
